1. Survey on Beggars (Duration: 18 Months)
Objective: The primary objective of this extensive survey was to understand the socio-economic conditions and root causes that lead individuals into begging. By evaluating their living standards, health status, and level of social isolation, TAPASVI aimed to develop targeted interventions to reintegrate these individuals into mainstream society or offer them alternative, dignified livelihoods.
Key Areas Covered:
- Demographic Profile: Collected detailed data on age, gender, family structure, and economic background to understand the makeup of the beggar population.
- Health and Well-being: Assessed physical and mental health conditions, access to medical care, and the impact of life on the streets on overall well-being.
- Causes of Begging: Investigated underlying factors such as poverty, lack of education, family disintegration, physical disability, addiction, and unemployment.
- Social Support Systems: Explored the presence or absence of family support, awareness and use of government welfare schemes, and engagement with NGOs or charitable organizations.

2. Survey on Street Children (Duration: 8–10 Months)
Objective: This survey was undertaken to gain an in-depth understanding of the living conditions, educational access, and emotional and social challenges faced by children living on the streets. The insights obtained enabled TAPASVI to design targeted intervention programs addressing their immediate and long-term needs, including education, healthcare, shelter, and emotional support.
Key Areas Covered:
- Demographic Profile: Collected data on age, gender, family structure, and reasons for living on the streets—ranging from poverty, orphanhood, and domestic violence to displacement and abandonment.
- Education and Skills: Evaluated the children’s literacy levels, school attendance, and vocational abilities, as well as barriers to accessing formal education systems.
- Health and Hygiene: Assessed common health issues such as malnutrition, skin infections, respiratory problems, and poor hygiene practices stemming from lack of sanitation and healthcare access.
- Psychological Impact: Explored the mental and emotional toll of street life, including exposure to abuse, trauma, neglect, and substance abuse, which often leads to long-term psychological consequences.
- Social Exclusion: Investigated how stigma, discrimination, and lack of legal identity affect children’s access to opportunities and services, reinforcing a cycle of marginalization.
3. Survey on Elderly People (Duration: 8–10 Months)
Objective: The aim of this survey was to assess the challenges faced by the elderly population, particularly those who are abandoned, socially isolated, or economically vulnerable. Conducted by TAPASVI, the survey provided crucial insights into their living conditions, healthcare requirements, and emotional support systems—forming the foundation for the design and implementation of targeted elder care initiatives.
Key Areas Covered:
- Demographic Profile: Collected data on age, gender, marital status, family composition, and social background to identify vulnerable subgroups among the elderly.
- Healthcare Needs: Investigated access to medical care, presence of chronic illnesses, usage of prescribed medications, and affordability of treatments and diagnostics.
- Social Isolation: Explored the degree of social connectivity, availability of family support, and participation in community life, identifying individuals at risk of emotional neglect or depression.
- Financial Stability: Analysed sources of income such as pensions, savings, or family support, and assessed their financial independence or dependency.
- Living Conditions: Evaluated whether individuals resided alone, with family, or in institutional care (like old age homes), and studied the quality and safety of their housing arrangements.
4. Survey on Tribal People (Duration: 8–10 Months)
Objective: This survey was conducted to gain a comprehensive understanding of the lifestyle, health, education, and socio-economic conditions of tribal communities living in remote and underserved regions. The primary goal was to identify barriers to accessing basic services—such as healthcare, education, sanitation, and welfare schemes—and to design programs that are both inclusive and respectful of their cultural heritage.
Key Areas Covered:
- Demographic Profile: Collected data on age, family structure, income levels, and traditional living patterns to understand the socio-economic dynamics of tribal households.
- Health and Hygiene: Assessed general health status, prevalence of communicable and non-communicable diseases, nutritional deficiencies, and access to clean water, sanitation, and healthcare services.
- Education and Livelihood: Studied literacy rates, school attendance, educational infrastructure, traditional occupations, forest dependency, and access to modern skill development and employment opportunities.
- Social and Cultural Practices: Mapped indigenous traditions, customs, and beliefs—especially those influencing health, hygiene, gender roles, and education—to understand how cultural perspectives affect service adoption.
- Access to Government Schemes: Identified gaps in awareness, accessibility, and inclusion regarding government welfare schemes, social security programs, and developmental initiatives intended for tribal populations.
